Alston Craft Workers
http://www.alstoncraftworkers.co.uk/We are a group of six designer/makers living and working within a 15 mile radius of Alston. The town high in the Cumbrian Fells also borders the counties of Northumberland and Durham.Popular with walkers and cyclists. The Pennine Way and the C2C both cross the moor.
It is an incredibly beautiful and inspirational place. The big skies and constantly changing light have always attracted creative people. We seem to have more than our fairshare of artists, musicians and poets for such an isolated poulation of only2000 souls. We set up a marketing co-operative in 1991 to encourage more people to visit the area and buy local produce.
Although we all have our separate businesses we join together to sell, organise events and exhibitions, share equipment and generally promote the ethos of quality handmade work.
